[Postponed] Alternative First Aid – Workshop with Blaine Andrusek

We have postponed the class until the fall – thank you for everyones interest – please stay tuned for the new date to be announced soon!

This one day workshop focuses on empowering you with the knowledge of plants and herbs and the roles and applications each may have within a first aid kit.

This course contains valuable knowledge to help you feel confident and prepared to help yourself or your family whether in the city or out in the wild. We will be covering some of the best herbal tinctures, homeopathics and essential oils to include in your First Aid Kit.

Note that conventional bandaging, CPR, etc. will NOT be covered – this class is about the alternative and herbal approach, which can be a great addition to the conventional approach or as a valuable replacement if you find yourself without a modern day kit - there will be a focus on some of the best wild plants to use when THERE IS NO FIRST AID KIT !

Taught by long-time local & favourite herbalist Blaine Andrusek, you are sure to enjoy his personality, stories and teaching style as much as the content presented. During this day Blaine will be using the aid of live specimens and a slide presentation.

Blaine Andrusek, Master Herbologist, began working with plants in the mid 70’s. He studied extensively with Wild Rose College in Calgary, where he now teaches Herbology and other programs. Blaine’s affiliations include faculty membership with several colleges, institutions, and advisory boards throughout Western Canada, the U.S. and abroad. His personal and colourful lecturing style keeps education fun, yet extends his passion and reverence for the plant kingdom. Also a widely published photographer and writer, Blaine has illustrated numerous field guides and appeared in magazines as prestigious as Canadian Geographic.

In season, Blaine conducts Herb Walks throughout Western Canada, introducing his students to hundreds of wild plants and their limitless uses. His version of ‘walking the talk’ has included wilderness treks of over 3 months living entirely off the land. It’s comforting to know his many stories are backed by firsthand experience!
